The site-specific arrangement by Jill Kiddon, explores the enigmatic realms of memory and forgetting. The work combines sculpture and sound to evoke the elusive nature of memory.
The transparent epoxy resin objects, layered with textiles, represent the intricate and multifaceted nature of consciousness, where different layers of past experiences and identities intertwine and transform into hybridized entities. These amalgamations suggest how memories fade and shift over time, merging into new forms while the essence of previous selves gradually dissolve into obscurity. The installation emphasizes the disintegration and inevitable loss of our perceived truths over time.
The sound piece „I forget I“ featuring Kiddon’s voice resonates through the space, contemplating whether forgetting is a passive void or an active process of becoming, while each new instance remains, at its core, fundamentally unchanged.
